Guidelines to Follow When Doing a Carpet Installation

Carpeting is an amazing flooring option because it brings warmth to the home, traps all the dirt from outside, and adds to the interior decor of the home. Carpets come in a variety of sizes and thicknesses depending on your budget and your comfort needs. However, they also come with their own set of challenges, and to avoid them, you need to ensure the installation and maintenance are handled perfectly. Here are the guidelines which are a must-follow when handling carpet installation.

Consider the Pattern on the Carpet

If you are installing a plain carpet, you have little to worry about in terms of size. Carpets that have a pattern are a little different because you will need to be more keen on how you join the adjoining pieces together. Ideally, you should buy five percent more carpet than you need for a non-patterned carpet and ten percent more for a patterned carpet based on the size or dimensions of your home, as this will give you extra material to accommodate adjustment. Note that the larger the pattern on the carpet, the bigger the portion of wasted carpet you will have.

Decide on the Right Pile Height

The carpet pile height is what determines how thick the carpet is and how soft it will be to step on. It also determines how durable the carpet will be because when the carpet is thin, it wears out fast, especially in places where the foot traffic is high. It is, therefore, crucial to consult an expert in carpet installation and to have them explain the concept of pile height to you. It would be better to pay a little more for a thick carpet than to pay less and end up with a carpet you will have to replace within a short time.

Treat the Carpet Before Installation

The other guideline that will give you an easy time when dealing with carpet installation is getting it treated beforehand. The role of the treatment is to reduce the possibility of the stubborn stains from pet droppings and urine, food spills and other dirt from adhering to the carpet. Treatment also reduces the possibility of mould damage on the carpet.

The most important bit of carpet installation is getting a competent installation expert to handle the process. It is best to take time and get the best quality carpet for your budget and to have it installed by a professional for an elegant and comfortable home.
